Academic Excellence

Our school aims at academic excellence. Therefore, we have implemented several educational programmes to cater for all students’ needs.

National
National Programme

The National Stream is a programme which is conducted by the Ministry of Education. It provides a combined educational environment through specific curriculums which depend on critical thinking, query and problem-solving.

It is integrated vertically and horizontally from grades 1 till 12 to ensure the solid educational base for the students’ long life journey.

The programme enhances the students in both languages, Arabic and English. It also provides different Arabic subjects such as science, mathematics, social studies, religion, art, music, computer science and physical education.

This programme applies ongoing assessments from grades 1 till 3. According to the upper grades, grades 4 till 11, students sit for mid-term and final assessments in addition to observational ones. The final year, grade 12, students sit for the Tawjihi exam which is settled by the ministry of education.

IG
Cambridge Programme

The Cambridge IGCSE curriculum supports learners with a variety of unique experiences that fit different abilities.

The programme is designed to have a vertical and horizontal articulation for each subjects’ specific needs. Starting from a foundation of core subjects, it is easy to add breadth and cross-curricular perspectives. Encouraging learners to engage with a variety of subjects, and make connections between them, is fundamental to our approach.

The  Cambridge IGCSE offers a flexible and stimulating curriculum, supported with excellent resources as teachers are well trained to enrich students with the best quality of learning. For learners, Cambridge IGCSE helps improve performance by developing skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving that align with our school mission.

IGCSE is an international qualification. It is recognized by leading universities. It is an international passport to progression and success.

International Baccalaureate (MYP)

College De La Salle (Freres), is an authorized school for the MYP and part of IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy -a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.

International Baccalaureate (DP)

The international baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is an assessed programme for students’ aged 16 to 19. It is respected by the top universities across the globe.

With the DP, schools are able to develop students who:

  • have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge
  • flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically
  • study at least two languages
  • excel in traditional academic subjects
  • explore the nature of knowledge

The curriculum is made up of the DP core and six subject groups. The DP core aims to expand students’ educational experience and challenge them to apply their skills and knowledge.

The three core elements are:

  • Theory of knowledge, in which students reflect on the nature of knowledge and on how we know what we claim to know.
  • The extended essay, which is an independent, self-directed piece of research, completed with a 4000 word paper.
  • Creativity, activity, service, in which a project related to those three concepts needs to be completed by the students.

The six subject groups are:

  • Studies in language and literature
  •  Language acquisition
  •  Individuals and societies
  • Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • The arts

Within each subject group there are different courses.

Students will take some subjects at higher level (HL) and some at standard level (SL). HL and SL courses differ in scope but are measured according to the same grade descriptors, with students expected to demonstrate a greater body of knowledge, understanding and skills at a higher level.
